About the Center

The University of Texas at Austin established the child development programs as a service for its employees and students in 1991. Our mission is to assist families with their child care needs, thus supporting the quality of employees’ work and enhancing student families’ experiences at the university.

The University of Texas at Austin Child Development Center provides high-quality, accredited child care for UT students, faculty, and staff, as well as State of Texas employees at our Capitol Complex location. We understand the challenges of balancing work, school, and family, which is why we offer convenient hours, accessible locations, and tuition options designed to meet the unique needs of the university community.

UT Austin currently operates three child care centers with a combined total of 575 spaces for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years. In response to the growing demand for early childhood care on campus, the university authorized major expansions in 2022 and 2023. The San Jacinto and Capitol Complex centers relocated to larger, state-of-the-art facilities, adding over 100 new spaces, most of which serve infants and toddlers.

Our centers offer a developmentally appropriate, play-based program that nurtures each child's growth in a stimulating and supportive environment. We celebrate creativity, diversity, and a strong sense of identity—encouraging children to feel confident, capable, and proud of who they are. Through rich learning experiences, children build social, emotional, physical, and cognitive skills that lay the foundation for lifelong learning.

All UT Child Development Centers are proudly accredited by the National Accreditation Commission for Early Care and Education Programs and Texas Rising Star, reflecting our commitment to excellence in early childhood education.
