Baby Sloths Teacher (Infants)

Erika graduated from Manor New Technology High School in 2012, and then attended UT–Arlington for my freshman year where she majored in Psychology. After spending her first year at university, she came home and began work at a local child development center in Manor, Tx while she attended Austin Community College. Her experience there inspired her to change her major to Child Development and obtain her Infant-Toddler CDA (Child Development Associate). Nowadays her focus is on her children: her 6-year-old daughter, 4-year-old daughter, and 3-year-old son.
From an early age, she always knew she had a desire to work with young children, she just was not sure what exactly that would look like. After experiencing how rewarding it is to be in a classroom and build relationships with children and their families, she knew that this was something she could see myself doing for years to come. The feeling of walking into a classroom and being tackle-hugged by an entire class of toddlers is a truly an amazing feeling and is one of the many things that keeps her going as a caregiver and teacher. Having a background in psychology, she understands that the neural connections made early on will impact children long into their adult lives. She is honored to take part in establishing those connections. For the past 6 years she's been working at various childcare centers in the Austin area and became a part of the UTCDC family in March of 2020.
