United Nations Celebration
Children enjoy international food, entertainment and activities
October 22, 2008 — The Child Development Center celebrated United Nations Day. The center is fortunate to have families and staff members from many countries, and this day is a great opportunity to appreciate and learn about the diversity we enjoy. Parents brought traditional foods from their heritage to share, and many children wore costumes from their homelands. Entertainment included bagpipes and a performance by Ballet Folklorico.
Both the Comal and San Jacinto Child Development Center locations celebrated United Nations Day this year. Julie Daugherty, San Jacinto site director, says, “Because United Nations Day has been so successful at the Comal center, we incorporated it over here this year for the first time. Everyone involved had a lot of fun!”
